I use to be a time waster.
I had perfected the art of procrastination at a very young age.

I've always had good grades, but with a disheartening sidenote...
'does not spend time wisely'
I'm known for sleeping the day away.
I once slept for 14 hours straight.
I then woke up and went back to sleep two hours later.
Things are different now, I want to use every minute..

I have so many ideas of projects and crafts and things I want to accomplish.
Especially with wedding party planning which we are referring to as THE get together!
Sometimes I find myself extremely frustrated with waiting.
Waiting on someone or something when I could be creating.
Stuck in traffic, working overtime, being stuck in a bad movie,
It really bugs me now.
I guess it is better to have too many ideas as opposed to very few ideas.
At least I don't have artist's/writer's block.

BTW I want to learn to embroider/cross stitch.
What's the difference?
How did you learn?
What references can you suggest?
Books? Sites? People?
Any advice is appreciated!

I took a little time out of my day
to do a photoshoot with Le Ru.
That is french for The Ru.

His name is Rufus,
which is awesome because Rufus is the best name for nicknames.

Ru dog
Rupert
Rudabego
Rudder
Rudy

Rubarb
Ruckus
Roof
Roofy

Rusy poosy
Ruser
Rudy poody pudding and pie...

I'm pretty sure he doesn't know what his name is,
which would make sense as to why he never listens :(

I did take french for four years in high school,
and even a little in college.
Most of those classes being HONORS classes.
That means I should be fluent in french right?
WRONG!
Haha! I can barely put two french words together.

I know how to say bathroom and brush your teeth
which would only help me if I need to use the bathroom
or became a dentist in France.

Je vous aime mes amis!
Au revoir!

I'm exactly the same; used to be so lazy, now I HAVE to get up by 8am and start doing stuff by 9. xo.
ReplyDeleteI learned embroidery from this book:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.amazon.com/Sublime-Stitching-Hundreds-Embroidery-How/dp/0811850110
It was easy to follow and there are lots of cute designs.
A dog named Rufus is the mascot of the Cincinnati Public Library!
ReplyDeleteI love the list of nicknames! Our pets constantly have new nicknames, and honestly, since they're cats it really doesn't matter since they never listen to us anyway!
ReplyDeleteI have been in assorted French classes since pre-school! Yup, when I was 3 I was "learning" French. Can I speak it?
No.
Can I understand it?
Only a couple words on occasion.
It's such a bummer! At least you could be a dentist if you could find someone else to do the rest of the talking! Haha!
<3 MuffinLovesBiscuit
Haha I am the exact same way! I used to sleep my entire weekend away, and now I can't stand NOT doing something.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with the language thing as well. I took German all 4 years in high school, and I was even the German Club president. Can I speak German? Heck no.. haha
OH! I forgot about the embroidery.. I taught myself. I bought a book full of super cute patterns, and then I looked up the stitches on Google and YouTube. It was pretty easy, and soooo therapeutic!
ReplyDeleteParles-tu français?! I took it in high school and I can read the labels up here in French, but I can't converse. So much for those Parisian dreams...
ReplyDeleteI love it that someone else has a million names for their dog! I have loads for mine ha ha!
ReplyDeleteSublime stitching book is pretty good and has some great patterns, but to be honest I never learned properly I just freestyle it! Some of your little stamp drawings would make excellent embroidery patterns!
You read my mind Emily! Thanks ladies for all the tips!
ReplyDeleteI took french in High School. I realized that I barely understand the rules of English so learning another language is impossible for me.
ReplyDeleteGood pictures! I'm the same way with our dog. She has like a million nicknames. My hubs says she doesn't know her name either.
ReplyDeleteI learned to Embroider with a Sublime Stitching starter kit and I would definitely recomend it. I also found a ton of helpful videos on youtube!
hehehe i totally loved this post. Rufus is very photogenic! it looks like you guys had a very nice day together taking pictures. our dog has many nicknames, his name is Piston but he responds to Sir, Woofie, Pal as well as a few other names that shouldn't be said in the presence of small children.
ReplyDeletei am the queen of procrastination! in fact i should really be doing house work right now... oups... ^_~
ha-ha about the french. i bet if u went to france u would catch on quickly & have fun, non? i don't know. i took spanish. great photos!
ReplyDeleteAwesome pictures! Oh, I love sleeping so much! I could spend the whole day in bed :/. I wish I were more active and had more energy ...
ReplyDeleteRufus is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAnd congratulations for getting rid of the procrastination bug. I still struggle to get over that hump a little too often. Though I've come a lonnnng way.
I love to cross stitch, it's a type of embroidery but you need a certain fabric that has a grid pattern so you make x's to form the pattern. The one thing I hate is keeping count.
ReplyDeleteIf you go to the library, most have a lot of pattern books which have step-by-step instructions. The patterns are usually very old-fashioned (and lame, in my humble opinion ; ) but altering them is very easy.
This software is free, and you can upload pictures and turn them into patterns or just use it to make your own pattern from scratch:

Haha, same here. I did French in school for like 7 years, but that's 6 years ago and I forgot so.effing.much. Which is a shame, not? I totally want to freshen up my French, which is probably useless, because who speaks French besides the French. It might be better to learn Spanish or something? Ah, problems.
ReplyDeleteRufus is one beautiful dog! And also, same here. My cat is called Ruby and I totally enjoy to call her name in different versions everytime. Sooo much fun. :)
Very good that you've overcome your procrastination! You go, girl. Tell me your secrets. :)
XO.
Hehe..Higgins has 8 million nicknames as well. I don't think he really knows what his name is anymore.
ReplyDeleteI just went to the library and checked out a few books on embroidery. It's pretty simple, some stitches are more tedious than others...I think you'll love it. You can stitch up some of your cute designs!!
ashley i love your writing style - its so lovely. i also am with you on having too many projects and not enough time!
ReplyDeletex
It's so nice when people have lots of craft ideas :) You should just do what you want to, I found youtube very helpful when I learnt to knit so I would suggest that for sure.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see you new ideas, you HAVE to post them up!
Nice photos.
ReplyDeleteHahaha this post made me LOL. I have a ton of nicknames for my dog, too. :) & I took French from grade 1 to grade 9, and I can count to... oh I don't know, it used to be 100. Ha.
