Getting Better

I've been feeling sick lately,
like really sick.
Not I have a cold, so I'll take some cough syrup sick...
more like OMG why does my stomach hurt so badly
I don't want to move or breathe or eat or even be touched, kind of sick.

I am sure any normal person would have gone to the hospital,
but as with many other uninsured americans,
that is not a luxury I can afford.

I am sure if I went to the hospital
they would do ultrasounds and blood tests and other expensive things
only to tell me they don't know what is wrong with me
or that I just had a horrible stomachache from something I ate.

It seems to be getting better so I think I'll be fine.

I saw some pictures on Miki's blog...
almost like before and after or this versus that pictures.

I thought it was neat to see what her hair looked like
without the use of a straightner.
I don't know why this interested me so much,
maybe because I am a weirdo
or because I spend a lot of time on that sort of thing.

How long does it take you to get ready to leave the house?

Regardless of what I am going to do...
going to work, running an errand, or even just going to pick up something to eat
it takes me about 90 mins to get "ready".

Crazy right?

Well incase you are a weirdo like me here are some pictures
of what my hair would look like if I didn't spend the time on it that I do...

Did that make sense?

If you're curious, I don't use a straightner,
just a round brush and a blow dryer.

  2. I'm glad you're feeling better!

I love the crazy lady hair top picture. =]

It only takes me about 30 minutes to get completely ready, including shower and everything. I have insanely stick straight hair, so it never requires any time. I wish I had some texture to my hair, though! Yours is pretty.

  3. You make me laugh every post. And I know what you mean about the hospital. Everytime I have ever gone to the er they pump my full of pain meds, so of course I feel better, but never fix the problem. Then as soon as I am home the meds have with off and all I have to show for it is a huge bill.

  4. AWEEE! You're SO cute! I love your photos! Especially the first two, haha.

I'm so sorry to know you're feeling sick :(. I can't believe how the health system works in America. David told me about it when my mom got really sick. He couldn't understand how the private hospital didn't ask us to pay more for everything my mom was getting. She was in hospital (ICU and normal room) for over a month and never had to pay more than the monthly fee, which was really low. We had shitty coverage, the cheapest you can here (around USD 50 per month). That fee included the doctors, the hospital, the medicine, the CAT scans/tests, the ambulance, even her meals. And if you can't afford to pay a plan in a private hospital, the public hospital MUST see you free of charge and even admit you there if you need it. Their ambulance is free, too. That's what we pay taxes for! David doesn't have coverage either, but he says we should get it a while before we decide to have a baby (which won't happen in a long time, haha).

Sorry for the rambling, it's just that I don't find it fair. If a developing country (like mine) can take this system, how come the most powerful one cannot? It doesn't make sense.

Be safe at home and please have someone see you if you keep feeling sick, Ashley. Maybe a private doctor your family or friends know? Someone who won't charge you so much. Oh, wait! If you call in sick, doesn't the company you work for send you a doctor? They do that here in order to check you're not missing a day just because you felt like not going. I'd do that!

  5. I'm a weirdo in the opposite way. I can be ready and out of the house in less than a half an hour. My husband thinks this is crazy since it takes him an hour. lol.

  6. Oh my goodness. I'm glad you're feeling better. The one time I did have to go to the doctor, they just assumed that since my tummy hurt I was pregnant. It turned out that my appendix was about to burst. Idiots.

It only takes me about 20 minutes to get ready in the morning. Since my hair is so stinkin' long and bone straight I wash it at night. Then in the morning I just have to wash my face and put my makeup on.

  9. I hope its nothing to serious. I dont have insurance myself and had a huge flair up of my crohn's and was terrified of going. I waited over a month with horrid tummy issues but after loosing 30 pounds and barely being able to function in two weeks i had to go.

What im trying to say is its good to save money, but dont wait until it gets too bad because things will still be expensive but if you end up having to stay at the hospital because things get worse it will cost you more $ and could make things worse. Just be safe. I hope you feel better dear

P.s. i say this with owing the hospital 5 grand which sucks :/ Stupid health insurance being unaffordable

  10. lol i love the first picture. I hope you're ok. We dont have the hospital money thing over here but my cousin went to a hospital in our wee home town and said she had a wee tummy bug and sent her home.. she then went to a family friend who was a doctor who got her admitted again to get a full blood work and she was then rushed to another hospital up in the city because she had E-Coli.. it was very scarey.. she told her husband she was going to die.

Shes home now and recovering but it was scarey for everyone!!

Im glad you are feeling better.

  11. I thought the health system in the US is getting fixed right now, is it not? Oh man, I hope you're feeling better soon. I can hardly imagine how that must be. I go to the doctor whenever i like and as often as I have to. And I have to a lot since I am always sick.
    *hugs* thinking of you

  12. Hehe aw, you look cute both ways! I really hope you're feeling better soon. Move to Canada! Free healthcare. You can crash on my couch, haha!

  13. Glad that you are beginning to feel better. I am now uninsured too. It sucks terribly.

On another note it takes me about 20 minutes to get ready. I have it down to a science. I like to sleep until the absolute last minute. I wash my hair only every couple of days and always at night. So in the morning it's up, dress, makeup, straighten bangs, tease and spray locks with water, scrunch and run. lol
